babies, babies, babies!

Now that Emmie can sit up there are lots more photo opportunities!

She loves to play! We just have to make sure that big brother doesn't steal all of her toys... "mine" is a common word for Nash right now.

To say Mommy has an obsession with all things girly is the understatement of the year. Emmie seldom leaves the house hairbow-less and I am trying my hardest to learn how to make bows myself!

Nash loves to read! Here he is reading his UK book.

Here we are visiting Daddy at his jobsite. Jon has been gone for two weeks and so we try and go on the weekends he can't come home :(

spoiled rotton

We have gotten so spoiled the last two weeks with Jon being home! Nash and Emmie love being with him so much (not to mention Mommy :)) Jon leaves Tuesday morning to work in Western Kentucky for a looong time. Back to single momhood I guess :(

Best Buddies

It's true. Nash and Emmie adore each other. Emmie lights up when Nash is around and they laugh constantly together. Emmie has just started sitting up (she is officially 6 months old) and is going through a huge growth spurt. She is always hungry! But she is soo alert and attentive.

Nash is really growing up too. He does big boy things like help Mommy with chores and eats most everything independently. He sleeps in a big boy bed with no issues. In fact I think he really enjoys sleep. Emmie sleeps really well too (from about 8:30-6:45) and wakes up laughing. Nash and EMmie both are at a new babysitter who we adore! She treats it just like school and Nash is learning so much. He knows some of his colors and he helps clean up. More importantly he is learning how to play with others. We are so lucky to have the two sweetest babies ever!

Baptism

Emily Elizabeth King was baptized at St. Peter and Paul on July 19th in front of all of her Danville family! We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Only wish Daddy had his eyes open in this picture!! It was so nice to have so much of our family there to support us... not to mention Ann-Alan made some fantastic cookies!

Zoo Trip with the Hilberts

With Jon's unexpected day off we decided to go to the Louisville Zoo! We had been talking about taking Nash for awhile and it just so happened to be the perfect day...75 degrees and slightly overcast allowed for two very happy babies. Evan and Stephanie were such good sports and came with us too. Evan so graciously pushed the DOUBLE stroller throughout almost the whole park... while Nash ran from exhibit to exhibit saying "OHHHHH" He loved all the animals and had a blast. So instead of telling you about everything I will just show some of the best pictures!
The blog is fighting with me right now so I will post more later!

Cooper

Back in January during the Ice Storm Cooper ran away. Jon had let him out to go to the bathroom, and we think he got spooked because he always comes straight back... well needless to say we couldn't find him. I had always hoped that someone just thought he was really cute and took him, but right before we left the old house for the last time Jon asked me to come in the backyard. He showed me a spot under a pine tree and told me that's where the puppy is (that is what he always called Cooper). He said that after we put an ad in the paper a couple of different people called and said they thought they saw a dog that matched the description that had been hit by a car.... He found Cooper on his lunch break and buried him in the backyard. I know that was incredibly hard on Jon because he adored Cooper. As much as the dog hair drove me crazy... we all loved Cooper very much and will miss him.
In happier animal news... Nash has a feathered best friend that nests herself right in Emmie's window. We have to say hello to the bird several times a day and goodnight of course. It is actually really cute to watch!

New Mommies

So I know I am a huge sap... more so now than ever with my two babies...but I read a real tear jerker with Nash last night. With teaching I know all the good ones... A Kissing Hand, Love You Forever, and so on, but I found a new one! If I Could by Susan Milord is one of the sweetest children's books I have ever read. I think the reason I love it so much is that it hits soooo close to home. I have never heard a more perfect description for how I feel about my children.

"I couldn't love you more than I do. But if I could, I would." So Carmelle, Bridget... you have to find it pronto :)

frustration

A house in disarray. Make that two houses. We are literally half in one house and half in the other. You would think with me being "off" in the summer this would be easy but throw together two little babies, a husband missing, and grad school and you have one unhappy mom. I would love to be organizing my new space... if we could get in it.

Anyone have some strong bodies, boxes, and oacking material available?

sorry for the neglect!

As you might guess life has been a little bit busy... Jon has been working out of town all week, leaving me to feel somewhat like a single mom and we have had a lot of other madness going on. For one we closed on our house (pictures to come!)... this began the endless process of beginning to paint and actually move our stuff over there. I have had grad school, which in itself wouldn't be so bad, but I was already overbooked. Within all of this madness we ventured to lovely, hot as heck Charleston for the Hilbert/Ahlstrom nuptuals. We had a blast! Nash and Jon spent some time at the beach, we went out to eat at several delicious seafood restaurants, and Nash was able to be the ringbearer in Steph's wedding. He actually was carried down the aisle by one of the groomsmen but he looked so stinkin' cute. He also announced a perfectly-timed "Uh-Oh" during the ring exchange that granted him many laughs.

I promise I will put up more pictures from the trip once I get them from Ann-Alan :). We have some cute ones of all four of us which is a first!

Can't wait for Charleston :)

Two reasons I can't wait to go to Charleston. Is there a prettier place???

The next month is going to be very tiring so I will definitely need the vaca. Jon is working out of town a lot so during the week I am single-working mom. I don't know that I could be busier. OH and then we get to move into our new house the weekend before we come! I would love to be lying on the beach right now ...
